Mindfulness: paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgement.  It teaches us to be with what is. It’s a 2600 year old contemplative practice as well as a contemporary focus of research for well-being and personal growth.  These simple techniques can have measurable effects on the brain, changing the way we respond to the world.  Mindfulness is a set of skills that, when developed, help people maintain balance and clarity.  Broader than just seated meditation, it’s a way of relating to events that leaves us with more agency and peace.  It’s not magic, but it’s been powerful enough in my life that I’ve transitioned my career to be able to support people coming to learn these effective tools. Building the skills of concentration, sensory clarity and equanimity will, over time, lead to better focus and non-reactivity, contributing to a more productive and satisfying life.

Through the months developing and building my meditation skills with Kristen, I have developed more of a sense of calm and equanimity. My tendency to react to upsetting situations has been offset by more thoughtfulness and the ability to de-stress through breathing.
